Final plans are now in place for the club’s ‘Groundhopper Day’ which will take place this coming Saturday (March 22). Here’s a rundown of what’s happening:
11am – Guided tour of historic Old Harwich – Run in conjunction with the Harwich Society, the free tour will, among other things, include a visit to the Electric Palace cinema and Harwich Museum, which currently has an HPFC exhibition in place. Those interested should meet outside the museum at 11am. For those travelling into the town, the museum is opposite the entrance to Harwich bus station and Harwich Town railway station (do not get off at Harwich International!). The tour – on foot - will last approximately 90 minutes. Lunches will be available at the museum tearoom.
1pm – Photo exhibition – Old photos of the 127-year-old Royal Oak ground will be on display in the HPFC Social Club. Club merchandise, such as pin badges, will be on sale, too.
2pm – Guided ground tour – A tour of the historic Royal Oak, Essex’s second oldest senior football ground, during which its rich history will be explained. This is included in the match entrance price - £7 adults, £5 concessions. Under-12s receive free entry. The ground is situated in Main Road, Dovercourt. Postcode: CO12 4AA.
3pm – HPFC v AFC Sudbury Reserves – A key game in the race to secure a play-off place in the Thurlow Nunn League’s Division One North. HPFC currently sit third. Second to fifth will compete in the play-offs, with the teams finishing second and third guaranteed a home semi-final. Printed programmes will be on sale at the gate, priced £1.
5pm onwards – Win a signed HPFC shirt - Find out how by visiting the Social Club after the match.
7pm onwards – DJ in the Social Club - What better way to end the day?!
