IN A MATCH THAT WAS A CREDIT TO BOTH SIDES, HARWICH & PARKESTON RAN OUT 6-3 WINNERS OVER LITTLE OAKLEY.

Report by Terry Francis and Colin Rogers

There was a great atmosphere to start the match with a crowd of 259 enthusiastic supporters of youth football present.
Harwich took the lead after Acorns goalkeeper Aidan Downs had done well to keep the ball out but the alert Will Crook (pictured) followed up to net.
The Shrimpers increased their advantage after good work by Theo Stevenson, who won the ball in defence before sending striker Dylan Crowley away to use his speed to outpace the visitors' defence and net with a good finish.
Little Oakley were back in contention with a penalty goal from Josh Henderson but Harwich restored their two-goal lead with Jack Elvestad also scoring from the spot just before half time.
After the break, the Acorns hit back with a wonder goal from their skipper Jack Cosby when his shot from 25 yards gave Shrimpers keeper Oscar Finbow no chance.
Crowley's pace and accuracy was a problem for the Acorns' defence and, following a run down the right flank, he crossed for Crook to make the score 4-2 in the Shrimpers' favour.
There was then another quality strike from Elvestad for Harwich's 5th goal on a night that was an excellent advert for the Thurlow Nunn Under-18 League and local football.
Little Oakley were not done yet and their 3rd goal came with Jack Perry side-footing in following a good move, but it was Harwich's night to celebrate with Crook completing his hat-trick with a shot that dipped under the crossbar.
An evening to remember with an excellent sporting local derby so well attended by young and older fans.
